猛一看，裡面都有used to，但是意思完全不一樣。一定要分清楚！！

讀文法書時都秒懂，但是考克漏字填充或是自己要用時，突然想不起來到底是哪一個用法嗎？那就再來複習一遍吧！也可以一起依照自己的實況來造句喔！

used to

press/push your (sb's) buttons 

To do something that pisses sb the fuck off.

惹惱，情緒秒爆炸，抓狂，踩(某人的)雷

例句：My brother knows exactly how to push my buttons.
           我哥哥很知道怎麼惹火我。(我的真實人生描述)

           I hate Dave's new boyfriend. He's always trying to push my buttons.
          我討厭Dave的新男友，他總是要來惹我。

          I try not to get mad, but he knows exactly how to push all my buttons.

幾天前在看美劇 Madam Secretary，剛好看到這一個句子，
媽媽跟老公說，女兒很會踩到他的地雷。
順便想起，House MD裡，也常常出現這個字，
Cuddy和House都很喜歡讓對方抓狂(他們的生活情趣)。

House馬上回敬一句黃色笑話之類的。

這個除了"惹火別人"之外，也有引起別人"性趣"的意思。

然後我真的滿無聊的，跑去Reddit找找看有沒有這樣的貼文，還真的有XD

suggest : to offer an idea or a plan for someone to consider (提供意見，建議)

除了suggest + that-clauses子句 之外，還可以這樣用：

1. suggest + Ving (動名詞) + something

例句：
The government suggested constructing another railway link to the mainland.

He suggests taking all or part of the party budget and giving employees bonuses to help with their holiday expenses." 

2. suggest + Noun (名詞)

例句：
Can you suggest an inexpensive restaurant?
She suggested Paris as a good place for the conference.

3. suggest + to 原形動詞   NO! NEVER!

補充：
1. suggest後面不能直接加人(受詞)，需要 to + personal object (人)
If this happened to one of your friends, what would you suggest to her?
He suggests to parents that they should adopt a different way of bringing up their children.

好像很合理，但是大錯特錯啊！
正確用法是，suggest後面+ that (可省略) + 子句(有主詞和動詞的子句)：
主詞 suggest (that) someone do something
所以句子可以這樣開始：I suggest that .......
例句：I suggest (that) you call him first.
           My mom suggested (that) I get a part-time job.

           The teacher suggests (that) she study harder so she can pass the exam.

為什麼是she study 而不是studies呢？
that後面的子句(that-clauses)是 subjunctive mood(虛擬語氣)，
動詞的時態是subjunctive form，動詞維持原形不用變化。

不過，英式英文中suggest跟上述美式用法就不一樣了。
            His doctor suggests that he stops smoking. (子句的動詞有變化)
          His doctor suggested that he stopped smoking.(子句的動詞有變化)
          The doctor suggests that he should stop smoking. (習慣會加上should)

Helicopter parents vs. Monster parents
1. Helicopter parents :

字典 informal) disapproving a parent who is closely involved with their child's life and tries to control it too much, especially their child's education 過度干預並控制小孩的生活，尤其是在教育方面。
這一詞第一次出現在1969年暢銷書 Between Parent & Teenager by Dr. Haim Ginott，書中一青少年抱怨：Mother hovers over me like a helicopter.
(媽媽就像直升機一樣盤旋在我周圍)  (好有畫面的形容)

2. Monster parents :

Monster parents是源自於日本1990s，教育家Mr. Onoda Masatoshi，用怪獸家長來形容抱怨並對老師施壓的家長，為了自己小孩能獲得最大的好處或是利益。之後，這個用法傳到西方國家，並用來過度控制和過度保護小孩的家長。

主要差異除了兩個用法來源處不同，還有受害者不同 ＼(●o○;)ノ
直升機家長施壓在自己小孩身上，怪獸家長施壓在教育者上。

No matter後面可以接 ：who, whose, what, which, where, when, how。
課本講義寫，No matter what = whatever; No matter when = whenever依此類推。
他們是可以互換的。
但是，總有個但是的情況。最大的差別是：
whatever後面的子句，可以當成主詞或是受詞。
例句：I'll believe whatever she says. (＂whatever she says＂是動詞believe的受詞)

但是，no matter what (etc)後面的子句，無法當成主格或是受格。
I won't believe no matter what she says. (x)
I won't believe her no matter what she says. (o) 

utilize (v) to use something in an effective way
使用；利用；應用

use (v) to put something to a particular purpose
使用；利用；運用

這兩個字中文意思都一樣，在使用上有不一樣嗎？
有的人會把這兩個字當成相同意思(可互換)，但是其實兩個字是有差異的。

When you utilize something you give it a new use that it may not originally have had. (使用"Utilize"時，這個東西的用途可能跟它一開始存在的目的已經不同了。)

比方說，筆的用途是拿來畫圖或是寫字，而不是當成武器。所以：

You can use my pencil for the sketch if yours is blunt.

The airport security confiscated her pencil because they were concerned that it may be utilized as a weapon.

再比方說，會議室conference room是開會的用途，而不是拿來舉辦派對使用。所以：

Please use the conference room for the team meeting this afternoon.

The restaurant is fully booked so we'll have to utilize the office conference room for our Christmas party.

An overview of pamphlets:

• Informational
• Unbounded
• Few total number of pages

WHAT IS A BROCHURE?

A brochure is a single or multi page folded paper used to sell a company’s products or services.
An overview of brochures:

• Advertising products/services
• Sometimes binded
• Multiple pages
   

總結：最重要的差異在它的功用。

Pamphlets用在非商業用途。
Brochures用在廣告產品或是提供的服務。

Brochures通常有較多的頁數和圖片。
Phamplets有數頁，但是一般包含的頁數比Brochures少，文字敘述多於圖像。
